BNI Extreme Team

How It Works

How BNI works.

BNI is built on one simple idea: when you help others grow their business, yours grows too. Here's exactly how the process works from your first visit to your first referral.

The Framework

Structured networking that actually produces results.

Most networking feels like a room full of people handing out business cards and hoping for the best. BNI is different. Every meeting has a purpose, a structure, and a clear outcome: referrals passed between members who trust each other.

The Extreme Team meets every Thursday at 9:30 AM. In 90 minutes, members connect, present their businesses, and exchange referrals — not someday, but that day.

Weekly Meeting Breakdown

What happens at a meeting.

9:15 AM

Open Networking

Arrive a few minutes early. This is your time to catch up with members one-on-one, meet any visitors, and get settled before the structured portion begins.

9:30 AM

Meeting Opens

The chapter president calls the meeting to order. Visitors are welcomed and introduced. There's a brief educational moment to kick things off.

~9:40 AM

Member 30-Second Presentations

Every member gets 30 seconds to describe exactly what they do and, more importantly, what a great referral looks like for their business. The more specific you are, the better referrals you'll receive.

~10:00 AM

Featured Speaker Presentation

One member is selected each week to give a deeper 10-minute presentation. This is your chance to really educate the group about your business, your process, and the clients who benefit most from your work.

~10:15 AM

Referral and Testimonial Exchange

Members pass written referrals and share testimonials every single week. Not occasionally. Every week. The consistency is the point.

~10:45 AM

Chapter Business and Education

Brief chapter announcements, educational moments from BNI's curriculum, and any chapter business that needs attention.

The One-Seat Rule

One professional per industry.

This is one of BNI's most valuable features. Each profession has exactly 1 seat in the chapter. One mortgage lender. One realtor. One CPA. One photographer.

That means when a fellow member needs someone in your industry, there's no debate. They refer you. No competition, no undercutting, no awkward situations. Just clear, confident referrals to the professional the group already knows and trusts.

One-to-One Meetings

The secret weapon: one-to-ones.

Outside of the weekly meeting, BNI members are encouraged to schedule one-to-one conversations with each other. These 30-60 minute meetings are where the real relationship-building happens.

When someone truly understands what you do, who you serve, and what makes a great client for you, they become a far more effective referral partner. One-to-ones build that depth — and that depth builds your business.

Referral Tracking

We track everything so you can see your ROI.

BNI uses a built-in tracking system that measures referrals passed, closed business generated, and member engagement. Every member can see exactly what their participation is producing.

Accountability isn't punishment here — it's how we make sure everyone is getting real value. If something isn't working, the data helps us identify it and fix it.

Real Questions, Real Answers

FAQ-style objection handling.

Is the time commitment really worth it?

That depends on how you're wired. If you show up consistently, build genuine relationships, and actively look for ways to refer others, BNI works. The members who treat it like a marketing strategy instead of a weekly obligation are the ones who see their business grow. Most members report that BNI becomes their single highest-returning marketing activity within the first year.

How does referral passing actually work?

When a member hears someone in their network mention they need a service one of their fellow members provides, they make a direct introduction. They hand over a referral slip at the meeting, make a phone call, or send a personal introduction. The key word is warm — these aren't cold leads, they're introductions from someone the prospect already trusts.

What if I'm new to networking?

Perfect. BNI is genuinely one of the best environments for new networkers because the structure removes the awkwardness. You always know what to say, when to say it, and what to expect. The group is invested in your success — because the better you do, the better they do.

No description does it justice. Visit a meeting and experience it for yourself. You'll understand in the first 90 minutes why members keep showing up week after week.
